In 2012 our CEO got an email from someone who worked at a credit union in Florida who had read Marketing in the Moment. She had said the book changed her life and that he should be speaking at credit union conferences. With her impact, she was able to get our CEO as a speaker at a premier event for credit unions: a CUNA event. The only challenge was – Michael had absolutely no idea what a credit union was, how it was different from other financial institutions or what content they would benefit from the most.

He went on a fishing expedition and started visiting local credit unions in the Buffalo, NY area. After the first credit union visit was over, Michael wondered why everyone wasn’t already a member of a credit union instead they are clients in banks.

Armed with lots of great content and a strong message for credit unions, Michael delivered a great presentation.

As he was walking off the stage, two people came up to him: Eugene Shymshack and Shannon Hout with the Educators Credit Union. Their passion for credit unions and helping people was simply off the charts. They wanted to bring Michael to their credit union to help the team with marketing ideas. After six months of back and forth, Michael went to Racine, Wisconsin (home of the delish kringle pastry) and spent three days helping an amazing financial become even more amazing (they are in fact one of the top 100 credit unions in size and with Michael’s help one of the best credit unions at marketing in the country).

He was hooked on helping credit unions and decided to pivot his marketing agency to exclusively focus on helping credit unions thrive.

Over the last few years, Michael has spoken at 25+ credit union conferences and leagues, and has grown a team of people to help credit unions thrive. We are people helping people and get to live this mission every day.
